Brief History of the College
The idea for the establishment of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Yauri, Kebbi State was conceived by Hon. Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, a former Member, who represented Yauri/Shanga/Ngaski Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives. Hon. Sununu initiated and sponsored the bill for the establishment of the College and the Bill scaled through successfully. The Bill was signed into law by His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, on 20th July, 2022. However, the College could not take-off immediately.
In line with this development, the Kebbi State Government donated Government Day Secondary School, Tondi, Yauri, to serve as the Take-off site of the College, and an additional vast land of 149,604 hectares behind the Take-Off site to serve as the College’s permanent site, and also paid for the compensation of the entire land accordingly.
In August, 2024, the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR appointed the 1st Governing Council for the College, with Rt. Hon. Ismaila Ahmed Gadaka as Chairman, and Com. Abdulhakeem Adegoke,Hon. (Dr.) Sa’adu Abubakar Sadiq Fakai, Mr. Pam Ishaya, Com. Zara Usman, as members. Mr. Martin Ugochukwu Ezem and Alhaji Garba Muhammad Koko are the representatives of the Federal Ministry of Education and the National Commission for Colleges of Education respectively, while Engr. Dr. Abubakar Atiku Muslim represents the Nigerian Society of Engineers.
The Honourable Minister of Education had in October, 2024 approved the appointment of Principal Officers for the College to serve in acting capacity, pending the appointment of substantive Principal Officers by the President. The appointment was later approved by the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, with effect from 10th march, 2025.
The Council and the Management team worked wholeheartedly to ensure timely and smooth take-off of the College. On 15th February, 2025 the ground-breaking/foundation laying ceremony of the College was jointly performed by His Excellency, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), the Executive Governor of Kebbi State and Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, Honourable Minister of Education.
